PHOENIXVILLE WOMEN'S OUTREACH

The mission of The House is to provide permanent housing to single women in the Greater Phoenixville Area. It aims to empower single women to become self-sufficient and independent by providing housing, counseling, and support services. Why This Project Matters

Northern Chester County

The House

17% of individuals served in Chester County shelters were single women.

While there are many shelters in existence for homeless inviduals, very few address the needs of single women who do not have children. In a 2009 needs assesment in Chester County, it was reported that 20% of the homeless served in shelters were single women with no children. This 20% does not address the single women in the county who could not find available shelter beds. The House is a permanent housing solution for single women set up to provide emergency housing, professional social work services, support and interventio, to assist homeless and vulnerable single women in moving from homelessness to to sustained and stable housing, while learning and incorporating new skills such as basic life skills, budgeting, job re-training, development of new coping skills and problem solving.
