PARKESBURG POINT YOUTH CENTER
Parkesburg Point Youth Center, which opened in 2003, is the only youth center in the area serving students ages 8-24. The GAB grant will support the Girls-to-Women in the World program that serves 250 girls from Western Chester County by providing a 3,000 square foot girls center with a dance studio, lounge, hair salon, and female mentors. The program hosts Girls Night once a month and empowers girls by promoting positive self-esteem, healthy body image and resilience.

According to the 2011 Blueprint Report, "girls need self--esteem, that and the age--old issue, body image, are two huge things for girls of all economic status.” The Parkesburg Point's Girls-to-Women in the World program is ongoing that has been running for six years and is growing in the number of students, volunteers, and staff involved. The program promotes positive self-esteem, body image, and resilience.
