Why This Project Matters
Southern Chester County
Wellness and Independence
2.7 million individuals are aged 60 or older in Pennsylvania.
As indicated by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, regular moderate activity can provide significant health benefits to people of all ages, particularly the elderly who are often more sedentary. Isolated older adults and those with few economic resources are less likely to have knowledge of, and the ability to complete applications for public, private, and community benefit programs that could potentially relieve some of their financial burden, improve their access to health care, and enhance their overall quality of life. The Wellness and Independence for Older Women program helps senior women lead healthier, happier and more active and independent lives.
