FRIENDS ASSOCIATION FOR CARE

AND PROTECTION OF CHILDREN

Friends Association for Care and Protection of Children provides housing programs and services to families to prevent homelessness and to promote independent living and self-sufficiency. Friends operates an emergency family shelter for short-term stays and a homelessness prevention program, which provides more stable, long-term housing. A new program offers case management to families on the brink of homelessness.

Family homelessness increased by 3% in Pennsylvania between 2011 and 2012.

- National Alliance to End Homelessness

The National Center for Children in Poverty reported that the long-term effects of homelessness on families with children include food insecurity, poor health and increase in chronic health conditions, and greater risk of mental health issues. Friends Association is only one of two organizations in Chester County to provide sheter for homeless families. Programs directly impact families trying to achieve economic freedom ans self-sufficiency at Friends Association.
